The Alliance of Democracies Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former NATO Secretary General and former Prime Minister of Denmark. Our team is based in Brussels, Berlin and Copenhagen and bring expertise from international diplomacy and human rights to election integrity and strategic communications. The Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft cooperate with the Alliance for Democracies Foundation since 2021 on various occasions as for example at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit or at the project Digital Europe 2030.

Das Progressive Zentrum is an independent think tank, founded in 2007 as a non-profit initiative. Its aim is to pursue a political agenda that promotes progressive and innovation oriented ideas in public debates and on the political agenda. With this intention, Das Progressive Zentrum deliberately includes young responsible thinkers and decision makers from Germany and Europe into those debates. With Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft, it cooperated for example regarding the study “Return to the politically abandoned” or the Innocracy conference in Berlin in June 2018. Moreover, we organize joined rountables on the future of democracy.

The Freie Universität Berlin was founded in 1948 as an answer to the prosecution of critical-to-the-system students in the Soviet sector. Since 2012, it belongs to Germany‘s 11 Excellence Universities. Freie Universität Berlin is one of the three institutions that jointly offer the master program International Relations. With this program, Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft co-organises panel discussion, lecture series, and more since 2018.

Since its opening in 2006, the Institute for Media and Communication Policy gGmbH (IfM) has developed into an important think tank and forum for the media industry, communication research and policy makers: With events, studies and impulses that are both effective for the public and politically relevant, the IfM brings important media and communication policy issues to politics and the public. The technological and media-economic developments of the last two decades, but also the erosions in the classic "broadcasting regulation" increase the importance of the IfM as a reflection space and advisory institution - both on the empirical-analytical and on the strategic level. Since 2022, we have been working together with the IfM - among others, on the Roman Brodmann Colloquium or the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium.

The Center for Liberal Modernity (LibMod) is a non-partisan think tank dedicated to defending and renewing liberal democracy. In a time of fundamental change, there is a need for cross-party thinking about the future of our community and the international order. For LibMod, individual freedom and social cohesion, self-responsibility and strong public institutions belong together. The center was founded in 2017 by Marieluise Beck and Ralf Fücks. In cooperation with the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft and Das Progressive Zentrum, two roundtables on the future of democracy will take place in 2022.

The M100 Sanssouci Colloquium was initiated in 2005 by a group of leading media and public figures when Potsdam was running for European Capital of Culture 2010. Since then the conference annually takes place in Park Sanssouci. The international forum brings together Europe`s top editors, commentators and media owners (print, broadcasting and internet) alongside key public figures to assess the role and impact of the media in international affairs and to promote democracy and freedom of expression and speech. As a modern-day East-West bridge-builder, the Colloquium fosters media relations and not only exposes differences but also common ground in the challenges faced by media from different cultures and regions. We are partner of the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium since 2023.

The non-partisan Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe has set itself the mission of empowering young people from all backgrounds to become active European citizens. It is through their commitment and activities that the Foundation seeks to contribute to a pluralistic, democratic society, leading to mutual understanding, solidarity and peaceful collaboration across Europe. The foundation works in various projects and youth-led networks such as the educational network Understanding Europe. The Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft has been collaborating since 2021 as part of the Thinking of Europe fellowship, which supports four young educators from Europe in communicating democratic values.
